2020 Bulgarian Folk Music & Dance Seminar in Plovdiv, Bulgaria (CANCELED)

July 30, 2020 at 4:00 pm – August 5, 2020 at 4:00 pm

SEMINAR HAS BEEN CANCELED: We are very sorry to say that the Bulgarian Folk Music & Dance Seminar has been cancelled for 2020 due to the continuing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), and all of the related uncertainties. We have left the 2020 program information intact, as we plan to resume in 2021 with a similar staff. (Posted March 22, 2020)

Most of the information on the current website describes the 2019 program. The instrumental & vocal music portions of the Seminar will be very similar to the 2019 program and the dance program will feature village dance teachers from various parts Bulgaria. We also have a great FAQ section with detailed information about getting to Plovdiv, accommodations, and much more.

This Seminar, now in its 16th year, offers a very special experience for non-Bulgarians (and Bulgarians interested in connecting with their "roots" music and dance) who want a more in-depth opportunity to learn traditional instruments, singing styles, and dance than is normally possible for groups or individuals traveling to Bulgaria. This rich and unique program couples the teaching expertise of instructors at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv with the traditional music and dance wisdom of tradition bearers from around Bulgaria. The dance program features different groups of dancers and musicians throughout the week, teaching dances from their own villages.

We will be continuing our special 15% discount for EEFC members (a great reason to join the EEFC if you haven't already!). Students from past years have raved about their experiences at the Seminar.
