Macedonian & More

Zabava! means “party” and that’s this group’s mission—to create dance parties of Macedonian village and city music, with sprinklings of Romani, Turkish, and Bulgarian, played with joy by longtime west coast folk dance fixtures. Happily reunited for September 2022 only, the band is:

  • Bill Cope: Macedonian, Pirin, & Bulgarian tambura; Macedonian, Thracian, & Kaba gajda; oud
  • Corinne Sykes: vocal; Macedonian tambura
  • Dan Auvil: Tupan; darabuka; daire
  • Michele Simon: vocal; Macedonian tambura; darabuka
  • Tom Farris: Macedonian tambura; guitar
