Csenge Magyar

Hungarian Violin

Csenge Magyar is a third-generation Hungarian immigrant, born in New Jersey, raised in Toronto, and who now studies in Montreal. She is a classically trained violinist, beginning at the age of 4, surrounded by all types of music growing up, with a special interest in Hungarian folk music. She’s travelled to many camps and festivals over the years in Hungary, Romania, Canada, and the US, learning different styles from the various regions of Hungary and Transylvania; and at the same time she also fell in love with Hungarian singing and dancing. After picking up the viola, she spent one year abroad at the age of 14 studying classical viola at the prestigious Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest, where she further immersed herself in Hungarian culture. Csenge has taught the violin since the age of 12, and loves to share her love for music!
