Hristo Mollov was born in Bulgaria to a well-known family of self-taught musicians. From a very young age he was interested in the clarinet, inspired by his uncle, who was a clarinetist. At the age of 9 he was introduced to classical music. In 2000, he was a laureate in the prestigious Boris Karadimchev classical music competition in Bulgaria. Hristo’s passion for authentic Bulgarian and Balkan music has only increased over the years. Coming to the US in 2004, he worked with the Duquesne University Tamburitzans for four years, performing more than a hundred shows a year all over the United States. He participated in the Stockton Folk Dance Camp for two years in a row, and has performed at the Balkanske Igre Chicago Spring Festival, Bulgarian Folk Festival “Tapan Bie” in Phoenix, Bulgarian Folklore Fest “Traditsiya” in Boston, and at many other events.
