Klezmer Workshop and Jam - Sunday, May 21st in Berkeley, CA

May 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm

Come jam with Dave Rosenfeld!

We will learn a klezmer melody together, using some combination of singing, listening and playing, theory and notation, balancing tradition with practicality. Additionally, we will learn to "jam", to improvise, in a klezmer style. Be prepared to loosen up, and have a lot of fun!

RSVP to jams[at]klezcalifornia.org and specify date/location, your name, instrument, and any questions. Or just show up!

Tell your friends by sharing the Facebook event page for May 21, coming soon!

REGISTRATION
$25 sliding scale, for participants; pay on site with cash or check. Refreshments included. Listeners welcome, too; donation requested.

Participants of all ages welcome. Must be at least intermediate level on your instrument. All instruments welcome except electrified instruments. No klezmer experience needed, but it doesn't hurt! Sound files will be provided before and sheet music (when available) after the session.

WHAT TO BRING
Required: mute if you are a brass player
Optional but encouraged: recording device

PREPARATION
If you like, check out sheet music and/or audio files at klezcalifornia.org/events/jams (scroll down on that page.)

We look forward to playing with you!
