Balkan Music &
Dance Workshops
Virtual Camp

While we regret the cancelation of both our Mendocino and Iroquois Springs workshops due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are excited to have presented our first-ever, completely online Virtual Camps, each with three days of immersive classes, live-music performances, and community gatherings. Virtual Camp West Coast (July 17-19, 2020) was a great success, with 350 people registered. Our East Coast Virtual Camp (August 14-16) is now complete, with over 380 attendees!

Registration is now closed for both camps. Stay tuned for more EEFC-sponsored virtual events & classes!

World Music Benefit Concert with CHUBRITZA

February 16, 2019 at 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Chubritza International Folk Band will present a musical trip around the world - a vibrant, eclectic mix of lively dance music and beautiful folk songs in many languages, played on a large, varied collection of traditional and modern instruments.

Proceeds from this event will provide scholarships for local people to study traditional music and dance at workshops and camps next summer.

The evening will also include cameo dance performances by members of the Ya Habibi Dance Company and Girl Scout Troop 90015. Tasty treats and drinks as well as a wonderful collection of donated jewelry, folkwear, handmade gifts, and local products will be available for purchase.

Chubritza is the name of a Bulgarian table spice usually served as a mixture of savory, salt and paprika. The name reflects the band's variety and mixture of international musical tastes and textures, while retaining a Balkan and Eastern European emphasis.

Chubritza plays frequently for dances, concerts, weddings, and arts events in the Humboldt area, as well as folk dance festivals in Central California, Oregon, and a concert tour in Israel. The band recently played at the Tamburitza Extravaganza in Burbank as one of 12 bands nationwide to be featured at the festival.

Chubritza’s CDs, Spice of Life and Opsa! contain a sampling of the group’s extensive and varied repertoire.
